Ugandan Film Festival Announces Nominees for 10th Edition

The annual Ugandan Film Festival has announced nominees for its 10th edition, celebrating the best of Ugandan cinema for the year in review.

According to a statement issued by its organisers, the nominees were selected by a panel of judges led by a Nigerian celebrated filmmaker, Femi Odugbemi.

Odugbemi has returned as Chief Juror after serving in 2014, 2015, and 2016 and covered over twenty-four categories, including Best Animation Film, Best Student Film, Best Documentary, Best TV Drama/Series, Best Male Actor in a TV Drama/Series, Best Female Actor in a TV Drama/Series, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Designer, Best Production Designer, Best Screenplay among others.

A statement by the organisers said the festival is a key platform for Ugandan filmmakers to showcase their work.

“In addition to the official categories, the festival will also feature a special Viewers’ Choice Award, as it has been before, giving the public the opportunity to vote for their favorite film.

“The festival has been a showcase for the country’s burgeoning film industry for the past nine years, and this year’s milestone edition promises to be the most exciting yet.

“The winners will be announced at the awards gala ceremony, which usually culminates the festival,” the statement read.
