MultiChoice Talent Factory Empowers Aspiring Filmmakers

MULTICHOICE Talent Factory (MTF), a pan-African film and television training institution, has opened applications for its 2026 intake, offering aspiring filmmakers across the continent a fully- funded pathway into the rapidly expanding film and television industry.

The fully-funded nine-month programme targets African graduates with ambitions in directing, filmmaking, scriptwriting, producing and storytelling, equipping them with professional skills to tell authentic African stories for local and global audiences.

Applications close on February 27 and interested candidates can apply online via https://applications.multichoicetalentfactory.com.

The programme comes at a time when demand for Africa-led content is growing globally, positioning MTF as a critical pipeline for developing skilled creatives who can meet industry needs while amplifying African voices on international platforms.

Following its recent integration into CANAL+, MultiChoice has reaffirmed its commitment to producing compelling African content by investing in the next generation of filmmakers through hands-on training and mentorship.

In a statement, MultiChoice Zimbabwe said the programme was delivered through a hybrid model, combining interactive online learning with intensive in-person training.

“The 2026 intake introduces a comprehensive curriculum designed to balance theoretical knowledge with practical engagement. During the programme, students gain insights into the business of filmmaking while learning their craft from the industry’s best minds,” read part of the statement.

With academies based in Kenya, Nigeria and Zambia, MTF serves aspiring filmmakers from 14 African countries, offering practical training, industrial exposure and access to professional networks, needed to thrive in a competitive entertainment landscape.

As part of the programme, participants are required to produce their own film projects, which are subsequently broadcast on DStv and GOtv channels, including Maisha Magic, Zambezi Magic and Africa Magic, as well as on the streaming platform Showmax.

Since its launch in 2018, MTF has trained 296 filmmakers, with more than 42 films produced by graduates.

“Post-graduation, alumni success rates are high. Most go on to work within the MultiChoice ecosystem, helping to create major African productions. The MTF accreditation makes graduates highly sought-after and many have launched their own ventures. To date, more than 50 production companies have been established by MTF alumni,” MultiChoice Zimbabwe said.

The programme supports a hyperlocal content strategy that empowers Africans to tell their own stories, an approach that continues to gain international recognition.
