Liberian Writer, Zar-Zar Bargbor, Wins WAIO Award

A distinguished Liberian writer, administrator and teacher, Edmund Zar-Zar Bargbor, won this year’s West Africa Intellectual Organisation (WAIO) award at regional headquarters in Accra, Ghana, on Monday March 24, 2025.

Bargbor, proved his worth in writing skills, with his impactful articles on Africa’s governance, corruption, social and economic development.


A distinguished writer and retired school teacher, he has written brilliant and informative articles, published worldwide in hard and soft copies on line.

Among his past published articles are:

1. Liberia’s Self Governance: Are we truly custodians of our nation?

2. ⁠The Evil Hamd of Corruption

3. ⁠Are Liberians ignorant of history?


Receiving the award in Accra last Monday, he remarked, in a calm and modest manner, “The Pen has power, let’s change the world.”

Edmund Bargbor is not only a distinguished writer, but has climed the enviable ladder in government administration, to once reached the Deputy Managing Director of Liberia’s National Port Authority, where he exhibited his all round brilliance in port management.

A retired High School teacher at the Providence School in the Rhode Islamd and Washington School system in the US, he was also a graduate at the Cuttingtom University in Liberia, Howard University in Washington and Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa.

Edmund Bargbor has spotlighted Liberia on the international limelight by winning the WAIO highly competitive award, meant for distinguished writers, with impactful writings on issues of burning interest.
