Late Alaafin of Oyo’s children threaten legal action against Queen Dami

The children of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III have warned a former wife of the monarch, Queen Dami, to immediately desist from tarnishing their patriarch’s name or face legal action.

In an unsigned letter dated January 22, 2025 written on the letterhead of the late king, which was sighted by our correspondent, the children of the late influential monarch noted that Dami has recently been granting interviews with the name of Oba Adeyemi profusely mentioned.

“We’ve noticed you have been granting interviews recently which is entirely your choice. However, we strongly request that you refrain from mentioning our father in your conversations.

“Will you be comfortable if someone spoke negatively about your late father? Even if it wouldn’t bother you, we find your remarks about our father deeply unsettling.

“This behavior has become increasingly embarrassing and unacceptable. You are not the only ex-wife of our father and it’s time to move on with your life,” the letter read in part.

They further cautioned the former queen to stop tarnishing the family name with unnecessary and disrespectful comments, “You are no longer a part of the family. Any further remarks that tarnish the memory of our family name will not be tolerated and we reserve the right to take appropriate legal or reputational actions, if necessary. We hope this serves as a clear and final warning.”

Dami, who has been entangled in relationship row with her ex-boyfriend, a controversial Nigerian singer, songwriter and rapper, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus who is popularly known as Portable, recently granted an interview to popular social media influencer, Esabod.

Queen Dami mentioned the name of the late Alaafin on different occasions during the interview which could have upset Oba Adeyemi’s children.

Recall also that one of the late Alaafin’s daughter, Aminat had earlier questioned Dami over the paternity of the child she had for her father.
