Ladipoe Champions African Creativity, Serenades Okonjo-Iweala At Geneva AI Summit

Nigerian rapper Ladipoe has reflected on a week of high-level engagements in Geneva, where he joined global leaders in conversations on artificial intelligence, creativity and the future of intellectual property.

The rapper participated in the AI for Good Summit and held meetings at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO), where discussions centred on protecting creators in an AI-driven world.

Sharing highlights from the trip, Ladipoe said the conversations with WIPO Director General Daren Tang, WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Nigeria’s Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa, and Grammy-winning singer John Legend all pointed to one goal: embracing innovation while strengthening protections for creators in the age of AI.

One of the standout moments from the visit came when Ladipoe playfully serenaded Okonjo-Iweala with lyrics from his music, drawing smiles and applause from those present in a light-hearted moment that quickly resonated online.

Beyond the conference rooms, the rapper said another memorable highlight was watching diplomats and delegates dance to his hit song Feeling during an event at WIPO.

“Watching diplomats and delegates on their feet dancing to Feeling at WIPO was a beautiful reminder that culture speaks a language every nation understands,” he wrote.

Ladipoe expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent African creativity on the global stage, describing the Geneva engagements as an important step towards ensuring African creators have a strong voice in shaping the future of innovation and artificial intelligence.
