As part of YouTube’s #WithMe series, which helps creatives around the world stay in touch with their audiences, ace filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan’s filmmaking masterclass is set to make its debut on the popular online video-sharing platform.

The virtual masterclass, which will run weekly, will debut this Friday May 1, 2020 at 5pm West African Time.

The masterclass is expected to cut across several aspects of filmmaking such as directing, cinematography, lighting, script development, production tips, business of film among others, using his filmography as case studies.

According to Afolayan, the masterclass also coincides with the release of ‘Alo’, an animated series and ‘Eko Ede Yoruba’ which teaches the basics of Yoruba language.

He joins the list of creatives that have taken to online platforms to stay in touch and share contents with their fans as a result of the restrictions necessitated by the Coronavirus outbreak.

With this initiative, the well-acclaimed filmmaker and promoter of culture says he is giving back to the young and emerging generation of filmmakers and those who hold Yoruba Culture dear to their hearts.

The award-winning director of Figurine, October 1 and The CEO, among others, is one of the prominent new wave of independent Nigerian filmmakers making films that tell compelling stories and which resonate with their “Pan-African” audiences.

His latest film, The Citation, shot in three African countries with an international cast, was recently completed and is in post-production.
