Popular Nollywood Yoruba actress, Kemi Afolabi, has revealed that she has barely four years to live as she has been diagnosed with an incurable disease.
The 43-year-old actress, who is popular in the Yoruba language films, disclosed this in a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo.
The actress said she was diagnosed with lupus.
In a tearful interview on the recent edition of #WihChude, she said the disease was terminal but could only be managed for a short period through medication.
“I have lupus. It’s not curable. You just have to take medications for the rest of your life. I’ve spent over ₦1 million weekly on treatment yet I did not get the desired result.”
Lupus is an autoimmune, and inflammatory disease caused when the immune system attacks its own tissues. It can also be referred to as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). It can affect the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs.
She said the doctor told her one year ago that she should try and live the rest of her life among loved ones because she had about five more years to live. She said she has spent one year out of the five years projected and has handed over everything to God.
Recall that in January 2021, the actress revealed how she had written her will after the initial diagnosis.
“I wrote my will and booked a space with ebony vault this year 2021 but God showed me how faithful he is despite my unfaithfulness,” she wrote.
“Who am I that God is so mindful of my existence? Me ordinary sand, that was tossed around from my private hospital to LASUTH, to Army barracks hospital in WAEC and finally LUTH where I spent over three months!”
Kemi Afolabi is one of the famous faces in Nollywood. She made her acting debut when she starred in a Yoruba movie titled ‘Alagba’ in the early 2000s.
The 43-year-old actress is married with a child.
