Hilda Baci Thrills At Firewood Jollof Festival

The inaugural Firewood Jollof Festival recently heated up the culinary scene, with popular chef and restaurateur Hilda Baci making a special appearance.

Sponsored by Showmax, the festival combined the smoky aroma of firewood-cooked jollof rice with star-studded entertainment, creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

Hilda Baci, known for her culinary expertise and engaging personality, added an extra layer of excitement to the festival by giving away the sum of N200,000 to four lucky attendees. Her presence was a highlight of the event, drawing in more participants and enhancing the overall atmosphere.

The festival attracted some of Nigeria’s most well-known entertainers including BBNaija’s Bisola Aiyeola, Dorathy Bachor, Wanni X Handi, Erioluwa Adeoluwa, Tomike Adeoye, amongst others. The celebs hosted various activities, including dancing competitions, eating contests, and cooking showdowns, making the festival a must-attend spectacle.

Under the theme ‘An Infusion of Firewood and Flavours,’ the festival underscored the importance of preserving cultural culinary practices. Showmax played a significant role as a major sponsor, offering free Showmax subscriptions with every purchase of jollof rice.

The festival’s mission is to preserve the traditional method of cooking jollof rice over firewood. “It’s to preserve our cultural heritage,” explained Chiza Machikweke, the convener of the Firewood Jollof Festival.

Looking ahead, the Firewood Jollof Festival is set to become a staple in the global culinary calendar, with plans already underway for the next festival in Abuja and potential expansions to the U.S., the U.K., and other African countries. “We want to take it to the U.S., the U.K., and other African countries. The next Firewood Festival is going to be in Abuja,” confirmed Chizoma Chukwueke, CEO of Firewood Jollof Restaurant.
