According to media reports, the Egyptian film ‘Kira wal Gin’ has become the highest-grossing movie in the history of Egyptian cinema, earning US$5.48 million thus far.

Released on 30 June 2022, the action drama film is based on a novel by Ahmed Murad of the same name. The film tells a story of a group of Egyptian resistance fighters against the British occupation from the 1919 revolution until 1924, who fought battles and made sacrifices for independence.

Directed by Marwan Hamed, the film stars Ahmed Ezz and Karim Abdel-Aziz, along with Sayed Ragab, Hend Sabry, Ahmed Malik, Hoda al-Mufti, Lara Iskandar and Ali Qassem.

Earlier in July, the film was reported to have grossed over US$$2.71 million in revenue.

Speaking about the film’s revenue at the time, Actress Hend Sabry said the film’s remarkable rise in revenue reflects that
“we have a conscious and cinema-loving audience.”

Sabry also said she is proud to be part of the film and is delighted with the reactions the film has received since its release in cinemas.
