Google, Refik Anadol Launch World’s First AI Art Museum In Los Angeles

The world’s first museum dedicated entirely to artificial intelligence-powered art has opened in Los Angeles, marking a major milestone in the intersection of technology and creativity.

Called Dataland, the museum is co-founded by media artist Refik Anadol and Efsun Erkılıç and is powered by Google Cloud following a decade-long collaboration between Google and Anadol.

Located at The Grand LA, the 25,000-square-foot immersive space transforms environmental data into interactive artworks using artificial intelligence, allowing visitors to experience evolving visuals, soundscapes, and even AI-generated scents in real time.

Its inaugural exhibition, Machine Dreams: Rainforest, is powered by Anadol’s Large Nature Model (LNM), an AI system trained on vast datasets from the natural world to create dynamic digital experiences.

Alongside the museum’s launch, Google Arts & Culture announced the Dataland AI Artist Residency, a six-month programme that will award four artists $25,000 grants, mentorship, and access to Google’s AI and cloud technologies to develop new digital artworks.

Google said the initiative aims to expand opportunities for artists exploring artificial intelligence as a creative medium while promoting innovation, environmental awareness and immersive storytelling.
