December is not without its end-of-the-year funfair and music lovers will be unwinding really good this year as all is set for the Livespot X Festival that has brought award-winning rapper, Cardi B to Nigeria.
The rapper had shared a video of herself dancing to her latest collaboration with Nigerian artiste, Davido while heading for Nigeria. This is the rapper’s first visit to Africa and will be performing in Nigeria and Ghana.
“1:03am drop my KK in NY on my way to Afrriiiiicaaaaaaaaaa baybeeeee!!!!!!,” she wrote in the post.
The social media sensation had confirmed her participation in the concert when she announced last month that she will be heading for Africa in December.
Since her arrival, Cardi B has been posting several pictures and videos on Instagram about her stay in the country. The controversial rapper has revealed her intention to go into the commercial hub’s “hood” and have a feel of the local food.
“Alright this 7 o’clock in the morning I want to go to the f**king hood. I want to see the real Nigeria. I want to eat the hotel food I want like real Nigerian food, all that fish, all that Nigerian Jollof rice, all that, all that,” she posted on Instagram.
The controversial rapper also took to Instagram to compare the sights in Nigeria with Dominican Republic, her father’s country of origin.
In the video she said, “Mehn we are in motherf*cking Nigeria yeah, no lies this shi*t looks like Dominican Republic, this shi*t looks like DR straightup”.
Born Belcalis Almanzar, she became an internet celebrity after several of her posts and videos became viral on Vine and Instagram. She broke into the music scene in 2017 with her hit single ‘Bodak Yellow’ and has since remained her fans’ delight.
Cardi B has won multiple awards including a Grammy Award, seven Billboard Music Awards, and four BET Awards. Her debut album ‘Invasion of Privacy’ won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, making her the only female to win the award as a solo artiste. She has been at the centre of controversies surrounding her marriage to fellow American rapper, Offset of the Migos group.
Meanwhile, fans have shared their excitement over the news of her arrival ahead of her first Africa performance.
Nigerian singer, Davido also shared a video of her on the plane which he captioned: “Welcome home”.
“Cardi B is coming to nigeria in December… That’s the show I’m going for in December,” a twitter user posted.
She will perform alongside top artistes from Nigeria and Ghana during the festival which is scheduled to hold between on December 7 and 8.
