The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has announced that Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State will deliver the 2025 edition of its Annual Film Lecture, scheduled to take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, formerly International Conference Centre, Abuja on December 3rd, 2025.

Titled, “From Policy to Power -The Future of Africa’s Cinematic Influence”, the lecture will focus on shaping narratives and conversations around the emergence and potency of film as a soft power and economic force.

Governor Mutfwang will present a historical perspective on film policy and power, critically evaluate current realities about cinematic influence, and explore the challenges of policy formulation and implementation within Africa’s creative ecosystem.

The NFC annual film lecture is a major film industry event of the Zuma International Film Festival, aimed at addressing challenges and upscale opportunities within Nigeria’s creative ecosystem, particularly the film industry. The lecture series has been instrumental in evolving policy interventions and initiatives, and has featured notable speakers such as General Yakubu Gowon, Professor Femi Shaka, and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Speaking on the lecture series, Dr. Ali Nuhu, NFC’s Managing Director/Chief Executive said that the annual film lecture series, introduced in 2006, have sought to address and proffer workable solutions to aid practitioners and stakeholder’s performances and engagements, positive and impactful outcomes as well as the growth of Nigeria’s film industry.
