Cabo Verde Airline Suspends Lagos Route, to Issue Full Refund to Customers

by Olamilekan Okeowo March 16, 2020
by Olamilekan Okeowo March 16, 2020

A few months after announcing their inaugural flight from Sal in Cape Verde to Lagos in Nigeria, Carbo Verde Airline has suspended its Lagos route due to the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic. This is even as the airline promised to issue a full refund to customers who purchased tickets for the cancelled flights.

According to a statement by the airline, this becomes necessary considering both economic and environmental consequences of the outbreak of the virus while craving the understanding of its esteemed customers.

“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, many countries are imposing a temporary ban on inbound travel from countries with large numbers of infections. This situation has had a profound negative effect on the demand for passenger flights worldwide.

Considering both economic and environmental consequences it has become necessary for airlines to respond to the lower demand by reducing flight schedules.

In line with the above, Cabo Verde Airlines will suspend the route Sal – Lagos – Sal during the period between March 16th and May 31st 2020. Cabo Verde Airlines will provide a full refund to customers who purchased tickets for the cancelled flights” the statement read.

The inaugural flight between Sal (Cape Verde) and Lagos (Nigeria) took place on December 9th, 2019.
