Burna Boy Winning The Grammy Award Was Fulfillment Of My Prophesy – Veteran Singer, 9ice

Nigerian singer, 9ice, has claimed that his controversial “prophesy” about winning a Grammy on his song ‘Street Credibility’ featuring 2Face, has been fulfilled by his colleague, Burna Boy.

Recall that Burna Boy became the first Nigerian solo artist to win the Best Global Music Album for Twice As Tall at the 63rd Grammy Awards in 2021.

Speaking in a recent episode of The Nancy Isime Show, 9ice, who had earlier boasted on his song ‘Street Credibility’ in 2008 that he would win a Grammy, tackled those mocking him for not winning a Grammy despite his boasts.

He claimed that his critics were wrong, stressing that his verse fits as a prediction for Burna Boy’s Grammy win.

9ice explained that at the time he made the song, Grammy was not attainable for Afropop artistes.

He said, “I was talking about Grammy and I wasn’t given, Burna [Boy] got it. We [Nigerians] never get am?

“At the time I was talking about it, it wasn’t even attainable for Afropop artists at all. That’s why I said when artists sing, they can be passing messages. That’s why it’s also important for artists to be very careful of their lyrics because music is spiritual.”
