Bovi, Nomzamo Mbatha Recreate Viral Akindele-Abraham Snub At AMVCA 2026

Comedian Bovi Ugboma and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha drew attention at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards after reenacting the widely discussed ‘snub’ between actresses Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham.

During their hosting segment on Saturday, the duo staged a skit that referenced the incident from the premiere of ‘The Return of Arinzo’.

Mbatha portrayed Akindele while Bovi played Abraham, using the moment to deliver a lighthearted remark that prompted laughter from the audience.

“Aunty, aunty Funke… mtcheeww. If I ever present award to you, call me bastard,” Bovi said jokingly, sending the audience into laughter.

The original scene, captured in a viral video from the Balmoral Event Centre premiere, showed Abraham greeting several guests before approaching Akindele, who appeared not to respond.

The clip generated extensive online debate, particularly after Akindele had recently spoken publicly about unity within the Nigerian film industry.
