BON Awards: Sadiq Daba, Esther Phillips, Ngozi Ezeonu to receive Special Recognition awards

At its 11th consecutive ceremony this year, the, Best of Nollywood Awards, BON, has chosen to recognise and celebrate the Nigerian movie industry practitioners with awards focusing on their hardwork, tenacity and steadfastness over the years.
This is to ensure that Nollywood continues to remain relevant and at par with other industries around the world.

Recognising the contributions of some veteran thespians, the organisers of the prestigious industry award will this December honour Sadiq Daba, popularly known for his role as “Inspector Waziri” in October 1; Estger Idowu Philips, whose stage name is ‘Iya Rainbow’, and Ngozi Ezeonu, a popular actress with over 150 movies to her credit.

The award winning actor, Daba, who once worked as a broadcaster for Nigerian Television Authority, came to prominence in the late 1970s, starring in Cockcrow at Dawn.

Iya Rainbow was a nurse at the general hospital in Lagos for several years and occasionally acted in theatre. She went into full-time acting after the demise of her actor husband, Augustine Ayanfemi Phillips of the Osumare Traveling Theatre fame. She has featured in several Nigerian films, including Apaadi, Eru, and Aje ni iya mi among others.at the dawn of Nollywood.

Ezeonu starred in Adesuwa, a role that earned her the Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 8th African Movie Academy Awards.

The 2019 edition of BON Awards, slated for December 14, promises to be memorable.
