Black On Screen Goes Global

by Cyril Ehis February 15, 2026
by Cyril Ehis February 15, 2026
Black On Screen, a new media platform dedicated to celebrating Black excellence across the global screen industry, has officially launched.

According to a statement issued by its co-founder, Folarin Aremu, the platform aims to provide sustained, intentional coverage of Black filmmakers, actors, producers and cultural figures whose work spans Africa, Europe, the Americas and diaspora.

Announcing the launch, co-founder Folarin Aremu said the initiative was born out of the need for more deliberate storytelling.

“Black creators are driving some of the most powerful narratives in global cinema today,” he said.

“But consistent, global documentation of that excellence is still limited. ‘Black On Screen’ exists to change that.”

The platform will offer red carpet coverage, festival reporting, exclusive interviews, industry analysis and curated features highlighting both emerging and established talent across the film and television landscape.

“Our scope stretches from Nollywood productions to Hollywood premieres, from independent festival circuits to mainstream streaming platforms,” he added.

The launch comes at a time when Black-led films, Music and television projects are achieving increasing commercial success and critical acclaim. Yet disparities in funding, distribution and visibility remain part of the broader industry conversation.

He noted it intends not only to celebrate achievement but also to engage critically with the structural issues shaping the global creative economy.

“By centering Black talent across borders, we seek to serve as both a news source and a cultural archive, documenting a period in which representation on screen is expanding and Black creatives are asserting greater control over their narratives,” he said.
