Adire: Blend Of Tradition, Style

by The Sun March 9, 2025
by The Sun March 9, 2025

When trying to mix tradition with style, African prints have become a go-to. Apart from Ankara, which has gained global recognition, Adire is also slowly becoming a rising trend in modern fashion.

Originally, this Nigerian tie and dye fabric was created and traditionally worn by the Yoruba people as ceremonial wear.

Over time, through cultural exchange, it has transitioned from local fabric into a statement piece in contemporary fashion. Adire is now worn globally and seen on international runways.

Today, Nigerian designers and international brands have embraced Adire, giving it a fresh, modern look.

From flowing maxi gowns and tailored suits to accessories like scarves and handbags, Adire is not only used as traditional wrappers and boubous. Celebrities and influencers are also championing this vibrant print, giving it a place in everyday fashion.
