The release date for the Hollywood movie Children of Blood and Bone, which features Nigerian singer Ayra Starr alongside Idris Elba and Viola Davis, has been revealed.

Ayra Starr joins an ensemble cast in the adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel produced by Lucasfilm, the studio behind the renowned Star Wars franchise. The upcoming film has a release date of 2027.

Set in an African fantasy kingdom, Children of Blood and Bone tells the story of a woman who journeys to reclaim her people’s stolen magic.

The movie marks Ayra Starr’s Hollywood debut and will premiere in theaters and IMAX on January 15, 2027.

Other actors involved in the film are Richard Mofe-Damijo, Saniyya Sidney, Zackary Momoh, Pamilerin Ayodeji, Shamz Garuba, Kola Bodunde, and Temi Fagbenle.

South African actress Thuso Mbedu plays the lead role, and Gina Prince-Bythewood steps into the director’s chair.

Speaking on the production, Prince-Bythewood stated on Instagram, “Even though Children of Blood and Bone is set in a fantasy world, it is deeply connected to Nigeria’s history, culture, and landscapes.”
