‘Mama’s Sleeping Scarf’, a children’s book by renowned author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie marks her inaugural foray into the world of children’s literature.

Mama’s Sleeping Scarf is a sweet picture book story about a little girl’s love for her mother’s scarf. Chino loves the scarf that her mama ties around her hair at night. But when Mama leaves for the day, Chino takes it on endless adventures! Peeking through the silky scarf, Chino and her toy bunny can look at her family as they go through their daily routines.

According to _The Guardian_, the book which was launched in Lagos back in December 2023, is a treasure for mothers looking for the perfect bonding moments with their daughters, and it is a tale that is not so unfamiliar for a child.

Illustrated by Joelle Avelino, the book is a celebration of family and sentimental everyday objects. It was Published in the UK and US by Harper Collins in September 2023 and later in Nigeria by Narrative Landscape Press in October 2023.

Author of acclaimed works like ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’ and ‘Americanah’, expressed her desire to create a book that mirrors the essence of her childhood while emphasising the pivotal role of reading in critical thinking.

‘Mama’s Sleeping Scarf’ is available in bookstores and online platforms worldwide.
