Ann Blyth, an actress from Hollywood’s Golden Age, has passed away at the age of 98.

According to reports, the Academy Award nominee died peacefully of natural causes on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, just two months before her 99th birthday.

Born on August 16, 1927, in New York, Blyth started her entertainment career on children’s radio programs at the age of six. She secured her first Broadway role at age 12 and signed with Universal Studios shortly after, making her film debut in the 1944 musical Chip Off the Old Block.

Blyth achieved acclaim a year later for her breakout performance as Veda Pierce in the 1945 film Mildred Pierce, starring alongside Joan Crawford. The role earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 16.

Over a career spanning more than 70 years, Blyth starred in 35 movies, including Killer McCoy (1947), Brute Force (1947), and The Great Caruso (1951). She also transitioned successfully into television and musical theatre, appearing in The Twilight Zone and touring in stage productions like The Sound of Music.
