From the moment we announced the postponement of the original show date, we have been inundated with heartfelt messages of support and solidarity from the artist community. We are humbled by their generosity and grateful for their unwavering commitment to the GRAMMY Awards and the Academy’s mission. We appreciate the leadership CBS and our production partners at Fulwell 73 have shown during these challenging weeks and the flexibility of everyone who worked toward this solution.”
The Grammys are one of several entertainment industry events that have been delayed in the hope that the rising tide of newly-discovered Omicron COVID-19 caseloads will drop in coming months.
TCN had reported that jazz and R&B artiste as well as bandleader, Jon Batiste, bagged the most nominations for this year’s Grammys with a total of 11.
Nigerian artiste, Wizkid, was nominated in the category of “Best Global Music Album” for his ‘Made In Lagos’ album; Made Kuti and his father, Femi, were also nominated in the same category for their joint project, “legacy+”.
The duo was also nominated in the category for “Best Global Music Performance,” alongside Burna Boy for the song, “Do yourself” featuring Angelique Kidjo
Burna Boy’s “Twice As Tall’ album became the first Nigerian music album to win a Grammy award at the 63rd edition of the awards when it won the ‘Best Global Music Album’.
