Nigerian rapper, Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, has named 2Face Idibia’s classic ‘African Queen’ as the greatest Afrobeats song of all time.

He made this known while featuring in a recent episode of the ‘Lagos’ podcast.

He also mentioned Wizkid’s ‘Ojuelegba’, Burna Boy’s ‘Ye’, Davido’s ‘If’, and M.I’s ‘Safe’ among the greatest songs the genre has ever produced.

However, D’banj’s ‘Oliver Twist’, Wizkid and Tems’ ‘Essence’, South African singer Tyla’s ‘Water’, CKay’s ‘Love Nwantiti’, and Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ opened many doors for the genre on the global stage were conspicuously missing from Blaqbonez’s list.

“My list of top 5 greatest Afrobeats songs of all time is very simple; ‘African Queen’ by 2Face, Wizkid’s ‘Ojuelegba’, Burna Boy’s ‘Ye’, Davido’s ‘If’, and ‘Safe’ by M.I,” Blaqbonez said.
