he 46th Lubbock Arts Festival kicks off Saturday. This year’s theme is Colorama.
Lubbock Arts Alliance Board President Steve Maines says, “Art from painting, pottery, music, dance, whatever – Lubbock has always been a community that supported that.”
A year in the making, the Lubbock Arts Festival will showcase more than 100 artists from all over the United States.
Maines says the artists are carefully chosen to make sure the showcase exceeds expectations every year.
“We also visit other art festivals around the country and notice folks that are doing a good job and invite them to come to Lubbock.”
This is the largest art show in West Texas and for the past three years, voted the best art show in Texas.
“It’s a tribute to the fact that folks in Lubbock appreciate art and that comes in all forms,” Maines said.
There will be plenty of activities no matter your age. You can watch artists as they do pottery, sculpt or paint, or at some booths you can do it yourself and take your own masterpiece home.
There will be live music, a DJ, featured artists and comedy shows, contests and activities for children.
Visitors are welcome to look around and admire all of the breathtaking art but Maines is encouraging everyone to bring their wallets and support these artists, so we can keep them coming back.
“The intent is for these booth artists to go home empty handed,” he said. “We want people to come with the intent of looking and buying art.”
Visitors can support the arts in West Texas while enjoying the music, art and vibrant colors at the festival.
You can get your tickets for $5 here until midnight on Friday, April 12. After that, Tickets are $7 at the door Saturday, April 13 and Sunday April 14. Children under 12 years old get in free.
