Will Smith’s Wife Says Oscar Slap Is Their Marriage’s Saving Grace

Jada Pinkett Smith has described the now-infamous Oscars slap involving her husband, Will Smith, and Comedian, Chris Rock, as a pivotal moment in their marriage.

During the 94th Academy Awards on March 27, 2022, Will walked onstage and slapped Rock across the face during his (Rock) presentation of the Best Documentary Feature award. The slap was in response to a joke Rock made about Jada’s shaved head, which she had been shaving since 2021 due to alopecia areata.

In a recent interview with Daily Mail, Jada revealed that the incident was what made her realize she would never leave Will.

According to her, the controversial incident which she described as the “holy slap,” was a catalyst for positive outcomes in their relationship.

Reflecting on the incident, Jada said: “That moment of the sh!t hitting the fan is when you see where you really are. After all those years trying to figure out if I would leave Will’s side, it took that slap for me to see I will never leave him. Who knows where our relationship would be if that hadn’t happened?”

Jada went on to mention the positive developments that occurred after the incident and expressed her gratitude for attending the ceremony, after nearly missing it.

Her comments follow a recent interview where she expressed her desire to be with Will “forever” after previously announcing that they have been separated since 2016.
