We Lost Majek Fashek To Spiritism – Amos Mcroy

‎Veteran musician and one of the co-founders of the famed Ja-Stix band, Amos McRoy Jegg, has revealed what led to the death of his cousin, the legendary musician, Majek Fashek.
‎
‎Amos, who spoke in an interview on Tales of the Legend curated by Monica Omorodion, stated that Majek Fashek died as a result of his involvement with spiritism.
‎
‎The musician and cleric who made this known in the video said that Majek was led to spiritism by his mother and his elder brother.
‎
‎”It’s very sad that Majek Fashek died as a result of Spiritism, not Spirituality. Note that! We started our careers together as a musical band and attend Aladura Church in Benin City.
‎
‎The People who led Majek Fashek to spiritism were his family, who are now dead. They did not witness the effect of that spiritism in his life and career, as Majek broke a law in that religion and was hallucinating and seeing spirits. This made him turn to alcoholism – taking brandy and spirits to reduce the effect in vain,” says Amos McRoy.
‎
‎Speaking further, Amos noted that Majek Fashek was known as The Rainmaker because of his iconic song, ‘Send Down The Rain’, and the ability of the song to cause rain to fall even when it was not its season, and it is sung by Majek.
‎
‎He revealed that, “Majek was led to spiritism by his mother and elder brother. This is a pain to me as his cousin. The effect of this gradually led to his untimely death in June 2020.
‎
‎”It’s a sad story. When Majek Fashek sang the song in Sokoto, rain fell heavily, and that was when the broadcaster gave the name, the rainmaker, to Majek. Also, when he sang the song in the United States, the same thing happened, and Diana Ross was thrilled and came to hug him on stage.”
‎
‎Majek Fashek was part of the Ja’Stix band, which featured Amos McRoy, Black Rice, and others, before he went solo and released the album ‘Prisoner of Conscience’, which brought him international recognition. The album features hit songs like “Send Down The Rain,” a remake of “Redemption Song,” and others.
