I AM LAGOS, a musical celebrating the uniqueness and endowments of Nigeria’s Centre of Excellence produced by Platinum Entertainment in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, will be staged on Friday, December 24 at Glover Memorial Hall, Lagos Island.
Inspired by the trio of Olayinka Edu, Tobi Odunsi and Nweye Joy’s IBILE Concept, it is written by Boluwatife Orimolade with Kehinde Oretimehin as musical director.
The organisers disclosed that Friday’s show, happening at 3 and 7 pm, is parentally guided, educating and entertaining with a focus on Lagos’ traditional roots and cultures.
A statement signed by Edu, CEO of Platinum Entertainment explained that I AM Lagos highlights “the history of Lagos, dramatically discussing the values of LAGOS as a state apace with the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda of the present administration.”
She added that “explored in the performance for social regeneration is our socio-cultural values. Furthermore, the performance uses musical drama as a tool for the preservation of Lagos culture and building the spirit of Lagos in the heart of her audience while educating on the ideals of civic engagement and responsibilities for a better state and national development.“
Apart from entertainment, the production will explore, propagate and engage Lagos, her values, and her potentials.
Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, will be the special guests at the musical alongside their spouses.
Commissioner for Tourism Arts and Culture, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf is the chief host and Chief Folashade Tinubu-Ojo is the mother of the day.
Royalty including the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, Alara of Ilara Epe, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo and Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, will also be present at the occasion.
The Lagos State Government, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency, Bet9ja and Adron Homes and Properties Limited are supporters of the production.
