President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian filmmakers Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visuals Production and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios on setting a new Guinness World Record for the highest attendance at a film screening.
The record was set during the screening of “Black Market” at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, on Saturday, September 26, with Guinness World Records recognising 51,000 qualifying viewers.
In a statement by his Spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu applauded the filmmakers for their ingenuity, entrepreneurial drive and determination, noting that the achievement underscored the depth of talent, innovation and growing global influence of Nigeria’s creative sector.
The President said Nigeria’s creative economy was building businesses, creating jobs and opening new markets for Nigerian talent, while film, music, fashion and art carry the country’s stories and culture to audiences worldwide.
He noted that the achievement of “Black Market” demonstrated what was possible when Nigerian creativity was matched with enterprise and scale, and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating more opportunities for young Nigerians to build livelihoods and globally competitive businesses from their talent.
President Tinubu commended everyone involved in the production and record-breaking screening of Black Market and wished the team greater success.
