‘The Jewel’, a futuristic musical theatre production, is set to premiere in Lagos in April.

The show is inspired by Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka’s ‘The Lion and the Jewel’ and Ola Rotimi’s ‘Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again’.

‘The Jewel’ promises a reimagined blend of the Nigerian literary classics infused with contemporary musical elements and innovative staging.

The show will take place during the Easter weekend on April 18 and 19 at the Eko Hotel Convention Center in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The organisers, in a statement, described it as “the most anticipated theatre show of the season”.

The musical show has begun to generate buzz among theatre critics; some of whom labelled it as “jaw-dropping” and a bold attempt to redefine Broadway-style excellence on African soil.

Featuring cutting-edge production design, captivating choreography, and dynamic musical direction, ‘The Jewel’ aims to transport audiences into a world of wonder.
