In a recent report, the British “The Independent” website highlighted some of the best tourist activities for tourists to do to get the most out of their visit to Egypt.
Egypt serves as a bridge between northeastern Africa and the Middle East, the report says, where ancient landmarks meet the capital Cairo’s lively hub of culture and culinary delights.
The article noted the increasing demand for Egypt as an attractive tourist destination.
A large number of British tourists visited Egypt last year, especially at the Red Sea resorts of Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada which have become an alternative option to European tourist destinations due to reasonable prices for British travelers, especially those looking for sunny destinations between September and May.
According to the report, one of the most enjoyable activities for a tourist in Egypt to do is taking a Nile cruise in a floating hotel between the cities of Luxor and Aswan.
There, tourists can enjoy the sights of fertile agricultural lands and the remarkable monuments located on the banks of the Nile.
The report also recommended desert activities such as sand boarding and watching the dunes on a safari trip, particularly Great Sand Sea in the western desert of Egypt which it called one of the best sites in the world for sand boarding.
It recommended the experience for those spending their holidays in the cities of Sharm el-Sheikh or Hurghada.
The warm waters of the Red Sea are among the most famous diving destinations in the world, as it is home to coral reefs such as those in the famous Ras Mohammed Reserve.
Tourists can go diving to watch underwater waterfalls, shipwrecks, and marine life, where some sites offer eco-diving experiences.
Other essential water activities include swimming at the Siwa Oasis, which features hundreds of natural salt springs with wonderful turquoise shades.
Those eager to spend their money on souvenirs should check out Cairo’s Khan al-Khalili market, the most vibrant market in Egypt, which abounds with workshops for traditional crafts and various commodities such as leather, spices, perfumes, jewels and oils, as well as ceramics, unique textiles, Arabic lanterns and gold artifacts.
The report then discussed taking a hot air balloon trip over the city of Luxor to see the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, the Colossi of Memnon and the Nile River.
It also recommended visiting the Valley of the Kings, which contains the tombs of kings and nobles, including the tomb of the young king Tutankhamun.
Hikers won’t want to miss the sight of Mount Sinai at sunrise and watching the mountain peaks there and the vast desert. Hikers can also enjoy long walks, in addition to visiting St. Catherine’s Monastery, one of the archaeological sites in Egypt registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
And no trip to Egypt is complete without visiting the pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx, the report continued.
Finally, the report discussed the culinary activities tourists can partake in to learn more about Egypt’s unique menus, including culinary courses.
“Culinary tours to bustling street food and spice stands with generous servings of authentic Egyptian food such as hearty ful medames and hawawshi promise tantalizing flavors and traditional skills at every stop,” the report concluded.
