South African Singer Tyla Makes History As First African Host Of Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

South African singer, Tyla is set to make history as the first African to host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

The organisers unveiled the host and nominees for the 2025 edition on Thursday.

The Grammy-winning South African star will host the show, which airs live on June 21 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.


Tyla also bagged two nominations for Favourite Global Music Star and Favourite Music Collaboration for ‘Show Me Love’ with WizTheMc, and bees & honey.

Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga led the nominees for the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, with four nods each. They are closely followed by Selena Gomez, Dwayne Johnson, Jelly Roll, and Jack Black with three nominations each.

Reacting to her latest achievement via X on Thursday evening, an elated Tyla wrote, “I’m really about to host the kids choice awards.”
