Seun Kuti Shares Stance On Monogamy, Reveals Fela Had Over 100 Girlfriends

Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has revealed his late father and the pioneer of Afrobeats, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, had over 100 concubines.

Kuti said people only knew of Fela’s 27 wives, but they didn’t know of his over 100 concubines who were living in his house.

He disclosed this on the latest episode of the ‘Bahd & Boujee’ Podcast co-hosted by reality star Tolanibaj and actress Moet Abebe.

“People only know of Fela’s 27 wives, they don’t know of his over 100 girlfriends that lived with us in the house,” he remarked.

Recall that Seun Kuti recently revealed that his late father, Fela, married 27 women on the same day in a bid to preserve their honour and dignity as the media was already tagging his female dancers and band members living with him as “prostitutes”.

Fela got married to 27 women in one day back in 1978 in what was seen as a very daring move.
