In a groundbreaking fusion of Afrobeat and Reggae, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 have teamed up with Damian Marley to release their first-ever collaboration titled “DEY.” This historic musical partnership bridges the rich cultural sounds of Nigeria and Jamaica, creating a vibrant anthem that celebrates African unity and art.

Seun Kuti, the youngest son of the legendary Fela Kuti, continues to carry the torch of Afrobeat with his band Egypt 80, a group originally formed by his father. The collaboration with Damian Marley, a four-time Grammy Award Winner and son of Reggae icon Bob Marley, is a significant moment for music enthusiasts worldwide, symbolizing a powerful connection between two influential musical dynasties.

The single “DEY” is a testament to the shared struggles and triumphs of African people, regardless of their geographical location. It’s a song that embraces identity and champions the underdog, resonating with the message that our roots and culture are sources of strength and pride.

Produced by a dream team that includes Lenny Kravitz as executive producer and Sodi Marciszewer, the original producer for Fela Kuti and Egypt 80, “DEY” delivers a timeless sound that pays homage to the musical traditions of both Nigeria and Jamaica. The track is part of the upcoming album “Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head),” which is set for release on October 4th., adding another layer to the rich tapestry of Afrobeat and Reggae music.

The collaboration is not just a musical milestone but also a cultural one, highlighting the importance of unity and the power of music to transcend borders. “DEY” is available on all major streaming platforms, and fans can look forward to experiencing this historic collaboration that brings together the heart of Afrobeat with the soul of Reggae.
