Saudi Arabia set a new tourism record this summer, welcoming over 32 million domestic and international visitors, a +26% year-on-year rise.
According to data from Saudi Tourism Authority’s flagship platform Visit Saudi, visitor spending climbed +15% to SAR53.2 billion (US$14.2 billion).
The southern highlands of Aseer ranked as the most popular destination, recording a +49% increase in visitors driven by its cooler climate, juniper forests and mountain peaks, attracting hikers and nature enthusiasts.
From Al Soudah, rising 3,000m as Saudi’s highest mountain, to the UNESCO-listed village of Rijal Almaa, the area brings together nature, culture and adventure.
Ahead of winter, the Saudi Tourism Authority introduced a campaign with football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and announced the Unreal Events Calendar, reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a leading sports and entertainment hub.
The video’s ‘Stay for More’ theme promotes a season of extended stays through curated experiences that combine global appeal with local authenticity.
Saudi has lined up year-round tourism events, from sports to cultural festivals, along with new attractions to boost arrivals.
These include the WTA Finals in Riyadh featuring the world’s top female tennis players; the Riyadh Comedy Festival with international stand-up acts; and the AlUla Wellness Festival offering yoga, mindfulness and holistic experiences in a desert setting.
