TALP X Ignites The Stage Again With Two Captivating Original Plays

Theatre lovers are in for an unforgettable afternoon this weekend as Terra Academy for the Arts (TAFTA) presents a brand new edition of TALP X on Saturday, 20th September 2025 at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

This quarterly showcase of emerging talent promises to deliver another stirring blend of performance, imagination, and cultural commentary while spotlighting the next generation of Nigerian storytellers as they bring their boldest ideas to life on stage.

Headlining this edition are two original plays crafted and performed by TAFTA’s odds-on cohorts.

Kingmaker, which is a bold and intense stage drama about an enslaved girl who defies the odds in a male-dominated society to become a kingmaker, explores courage, ambition and the power to rewrite destiny.

Bookcover, which is a heartwarming and humorous tale about an elite family forced to confront their own prejudices, reminds us that people are far more than the images and stereotypes they carry.

Beyond the entertainment, TALP X is where TAFTA’s intensive training comes full circle. After months of mentorship in scriptwriting, lighting, sound design, animation, and art entrepreneurship, students collaborate to create and stage original productions, turning theory into an electric live experience.

Produced by Terra Academy for the Arts in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, TALP X is more than just a show. It is a launchpad for new voices shaping the future of African theatre.
