Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has restated his administration’s commitment to supporting and encouraging the creative industry in order to achieve a sustainable economic status.
The Governor, who made this known while speaking at the opening ceremony of the inaugural Design Week Lagos tagged ‘Lagos 2099: Redefining the Narrative’, also said that the government would provide an enabling environment for creative minds by making the industry more bankable, creating employment opportunities and fit it into the growth plans of the state.
In his words: “To achieve this, what we need to do is to encourage this creative sector and help take it to the market. We will work with you to ensure that activities like this becomes bankable and sustainable. We need to ponder on how we would get a level where you begin to see the business side of it and I think that it is the crux of my discussion with the management of the Bank of Industry and other financial organisations that also need to be involved.”
Sanwo-Olu further said that Lagos is all about innovation, creativity and sustainability which is what Nigeria and the whole African continent represent.

The Design Week Lagos creates an ecosystem that integrates architecture, interior design, furniture design, product design, tech, visual media, and design thinking in West Africa.
