Rihanna Perfects The Art Of Monochromatic Dressing

by The Culture Newspaper April 29, 2024
This weekend, Rihanna made an appearance at a Fenty Beauty event in Los Angeles promoting her new foundation that gives you a “golden hour glow”—but it was her red carpet look that was truly golden.

Never one to have a fashion miss, the superstar hit the step and repeat in a monochromatic look by Alexander McQueen’s new designer Seán McGirr. It marked one of the brand’s first major red carpet moments since his appointment, and Rihanna totally committed to the sleek design—by completely matching her hair and shoes to it, of course.

Rihanna totally nailed the art of monochromatic style, in which one matches the dress to the shoes and possibly the beauty look, too. Let’s start with the dress: The star wore a corseted frock in a honey calf-hair, and the silhouette featured a sweetheart neckline and below-the-knee hemline. To give it a full fashion fantasy moment,

Rihanna then matched her hair to it—rocking a summery caramel-blonde hue. Even her choice of shoes—a strappy, barely-there naked sandal in brown—blended seamlessly into the final ensemble.

Of course, Rihanna did have to have a few non-neutral pops, though—including some shimmering rings and an anklet. It wouldn’t be a true Riri look without some diamonds. Duh!
