Pressure Mounts On Spotify, Apple To Remove D4vd Over Murder Charges

Streaming platforms Spotify and Apple Music are facing heavy pressure to remove all songs by singer D4vd following his recent arrest for the sexual abuse and murder of a 14-year-old girl.

The singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was charged with the first-degree murder of Celeste Rivas, a teenager who went missing over a year ago. Following these shocking details, an advocacy group called Industry Blackout launched a petition calling for his music to be taken down from all platforms. They argued that streaming his songs while he faces such serious charges is “not a neutral choice.”

While his music is still available on some platforms as of Saturday, many of his former collaborators, including Kali Uchis and Laufey, have already taken steps to remove their joint songs. YouTube has also taken action, suspending the singer’s ability to earn money on his channel, citing harmful behaviour.

D4vd was arrested last week after the remains of the young girl were found in a car linked to him. Prosecutors allege he killed the teenager in April 2025 and later mutilated her remains. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include murder and unlawful mutilation, and is currently being held in jail without bail.

If found guilty, the singer could face life in prison or the death penalty.
