The destinations included in the company are the National Park and Palace of Pena, the National Palaces of Sintra and Queluz, the Chalet of the Condessa d’Edla, the Castle of the Mouros, the Park and Palace of Monserrate, the Convent of Capuchos and the Portuguese School of Art Equestrian.

In a statement, the company states that the distinction “contributes to consolidating Sintra as a cultural destination of reference at an international level, it recognises the high quality of the work that the company carries out to preserve and enhance the Cultural Landscape of Sintra, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1995”.

Over the past decade, the parks and monuments have “received around 25 million visitors”.

In total, there were 133 World Luxury Travel Awards categories, which were grouped into five themes: ‘Air’, ‘Water’, ‘Land’, ‘Destination’ and ‘Lifestyle’ and defined “by an independent jury, whose choices are based on visitors’ feedback regarding their experience”.

“Subsequently, the winners are determined through a voting system in which the votes of visitors and professionals in the tourism industry have the same weight”, explained Parques de Sintra.

This year’s edition had more than 200 participants from all over the world.
