Popular Street Art Festival To Begin In Aberdeen

The popular Nuart street art festival will begin on Thursday in Aberdeen.

The event – featuring artists from around the world – first came to the Granite City in 2017.

The only interruption was in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, which saw locations which would usually have been full of crowds instead deserted.

Walls across the city centre are used as giant canvases for the festival.

Aberdeen International Airport and the Union Point office tower beside the ferry terminal both feature giant murals this year.

Other buildings involved include the city’s former John Lewis store, Aberdeen Health Village, and the Atholl House office block.

Nuart is organised by the business improvement body Aberdeen Inspired.

Chief executive Adrian Watson said the event was now recognised on the global stage, and that was was something to be proud of.

The festival, which offers walking tours of the artworks, is being held until Sunday.
