Online submission of MEGA 2020 entries begins

Submission of entries for the 2020 Music & Entertainment Gospel Awards (MEGA), celebrating outstanding performances and exemplary talents in Nigeria’s gospel music has opened.

Ahead of the 8th edition happening virtually on November 15, 2020, as a result of COVID-19 disruptions, organisers have invited entries from artists, producers, video directors, songwriters and groups in gospel music.

The entries, which opened online today, August 12, will close on Monday, August 31. Only works released or published between January 1, 2019, and April 30, 2020, are eligible for the awards. They can either be uploaded on www.megawards.org or sent by WeTransfer/G-Drive to megasubmit2016@gmail.com.

A statement from the MEGA Administrator, Iretunde Akintunde-Johnson, and Media Coordinator, Adeyemi Aseperi, explained that entries could include “full albums (six tracks & above), singles (any number, but not extracted from the released album), medleys (seven minutes and above) or video recordings – All produced by Nigerian citizens who principally focus on Christian gospel music.”

Some of the available album categories include Worship Song of The Year, Praise Song, Inspirational Song, Contemporary Traditional Song. Best Hymnal Rendition.

Medley categories are Best Praise Medley, Best Worship Medley, Best Traditional Medley.

The Single categories are Best Single Urban, Best Praise & Worship, Best Single Traditional. In contrast, technical categories include Amaka Igwe Music Video, Cover Art Design and Spoken Word.

MEGA was launched in 2013 to recognise and celebrate outstanding performances and exemplary talents in Nigeria’s gospel music community. It’s an initiative of popular media personality, Femi Akintunde Johnson and his wife, Iretunde.
