Organisers of the annual Ojude Oba Festival have called off this year’s edition of the socio-cultural fiesta.
The festival was slated for August 2, 2020.
A statement released by the Coordinator of the Festival and Baagbimo of Ijebu, Chief Fassy Yusuf, on behalf of the organising committee said the cancellation of the festival was necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the statement, the Awujale of Ijebu, Oba Sikiru Adetona, assented to the cancellation in adherence to medical advice and as a display of sensitivity to the environment.
While wishing all indigenes of Ijebu the best of the season, Oba Adetona enjoined them to adhere to all COVID-19 safety protocols.
The statement also thanked the organising committee, sponsors and the Ogun State Government for their support, while looking forward to a big edition of the festival in 2021.
