The President of the Directors’ Guild of Nigeria (DGN), Uche Agbo, and the Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria, Félix  Artieda, have expressed readiness to collaborate for a Nigerian–Spanish filmmakers exchange programme.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that they agreed to work together when the AGN helmsman and his team paid a courtesy visit to the Spanish Embassy on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to them, such a partnership will strengthen cultural ties and expand professional development opportunities for creatives from both countries.

They also discussed the exciting prospect of hosting a Spanish‑Nigerian Film Week later in the year, a collaboration intended to showcase the cinematic artistry of each nation.

In his remark, Agbo described the engagement as “very promising,” highlighting DGN’s dedication to elevating Nigerian cinema through international cooperation.

“This partnership will nurture shared storytelling, broaden access to training and festivals, and elevate Nigerian narratives on a global stage,” he said.

Amb. Artieda, who warmly welcomed the initiative, reiterates Spain’s commitment to deepening cultural diplomacy with Nigeria through film and the arts.

He thanked the DGN President and his team for coming and reiterated his commitment to work with the guild in actualising its plans.

NAN reports that the Directors Guild of Nigeria is the umbrella body of Nollywood’s film directors.
