Popular actor in Yoruba movies, Murphy Afolabi, has passed away at the age of 49.

Afolabi was said to have suffered a fall in the bathroom of his Ikorodu home on Sunday May 14, 2023.

Filmmaker and president of the Yoruba movies directors guild, Seun Olaiya, reportedly shared the sad news on a WhatsApp platform populated by filmmakers.

Another filmmaker, Tunde Ola-Yusuf, posted a picture of the late actor on Facebook and added the quote, “Rest in peace. May God give the family and close associates the fortitude to bear the loss. Good night, Murphy Afolabi.”

Similarly, popular actor Odunlade Adekola among other Yoruba actors were seen commenting and commiserating with the family of the deceased.

The Osun State-born thespian’s death comes barely 24 hours after the news of Veteran actor, Obinna Nwafor professionally known as Saint Obi, broke.

Afolabi, who was born on May 5, 1974, got into the movie industry in 2001. The graduate of Ire Polytechnic, Osun State, appeared in more than 60 movies before his sudden demise.

His film credits include ‘Ifa Olokun’, ‘Omowunmi’, ‘Jimi Bendel’, ‘Wasila Coded’, ‘Olokiki Oru’, ‘Basira Badia’, ‘Olukoti’ and ‘Idera’.
