Nigeria-based Ghanaian actress and film director, Juliet Ibrahim has been appointed member of the advisory boards of Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF) and the Brampton International Nollywood Film Festival (BINFF).

The sister organisations are both founded by Nigerians, with TINFF approved by the Telefilm Canada and the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television as a Canadian Screen Award Qualifying Festival (The Canadian Equivalent of the Oscars).

Speaking of the appointment, Ibrahim whose film ‘Healing The Inner Child’ made the shortlist of Kaduna International Film Festival (KADIFF) 2025 Best Feature Film, said it meant more to her not just as an actress or director, but as someone who champions African cinema and women in film.

“I am honoured to officially join the advisory boards of the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF) and the Brampton International Nollywood Film Festival (BINFF). As part of the board, I’ll be working to create more opportunities for African storytellers through international exposure, co-production partnerships via Telefilm Canada, and TINFF’s growing recognition as an IMDb-listed and Canadian Screen Awards-qualifying festival.

“I am especially proud to bring my voice as President of Women in Film Ghana, helping to uplift and spotlight the incredible women working behind and in front of the camera,” said Ibrahim.
