NIFS Cannes 2025: Toyosi Etim-Effiong To Showcase Nollywood’s Potential

One of Nigeria’s media powerhouses, Toyosi Etim-Effiong, will take the stage in Cannes, France, as a panelist at the Nigerian International Film and TV Summit (NIFS).

Founded by Ijeoma Onah, one of Nigeria’s leading film and television executives with over a decade of experience bridging African filmmakers and global markets, this high-level summit explores the opportunities, challenges, and evolving dynamics of Nollywood as it seeks greater appeal and investment on the global stage.

Nollywood, the world’s second-largest film industry by volume, continues to rise in international recognition, with an estimated 2,500 films produced annually. Yet, it still faces structural and economic challenges that hinder its full global integration and revenue potential. The panel, titled “Meet the African Talents: The Global Integration of African Creatives,” will unpack the possibilities and barriers to showcasing authentic African narratives on the world’s biggest screens.

Speaking on the summit, Ijeoma Onah founder NIFS says “The vision has always been to amplify African voices on the global stage and take Nollywood to the world. I’m truly excited about the remarkable lineup of speakers and experts we’ve assembled and look forward to the progress we collectively strive to achieve in our industry.”

Toyosi Etim-Effiong, founder and MD/CEO of That Good Media—a renowned talent management agency—brings over a decade of experience championing Nigeria’s entertainment industry. She has consistently pushed boundaries to elevate Nollywood’s global presence by fostering cross-border collaborations and building platforms that spotlight African talent.

Commenting on the event, Toyosi says “Nollywood’s time for global recognition, respect and rewards has come and platforms like Ijeoma’s, which have been preaching the gospel of Nollywood on international stages for years are the perfect place to forge international strategic partnerships.

As Toyosi joins esteemed voices like Esse Akwawa (CEO & Co-Founder, Webek Studios), Edith Nwekenta (Creative Director & Co-Founder, Webek Studios), Kemi Lala Akindoju (Producer, Casting Director, Actor & CEO, The Make It Happen Productions), and Ronya Man (Director, Producer, Actress & Acting Coach, RMA Productions & Training) at NIFS Cannes 2025, her participation underscores the critical need for continued dialogue, collaboration, and investment to ensure African creatives are not just seen but celebrated on the world stage. Her presence at the summit is a testament to her unwavering commitment to amplifying African stories and shaping a future where Nollywood thrives globally.
