NFVCB Classifies, Licenses 96 Films For July 2025

sThe National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has classified and licensed 96 films for the month of July 2025.

According to the statistics obtained from Censor’s board website, It highlights a steady growth of Nigeria’s film industry across languages and genres.

Of the titles classified, 49 were rated for adults (18+), 35 were suitable for viewers aged 15 and above, six were rated for age 12 and another six were given Parental Guidance (PG) for youths under 12 years of age.

In the data from the NFVCB headed by the eclectic professional, Dr Shuaib Hussein, English-language movies dominated with sixty-six movies accounting for 68.75%.

15 movies are from the Igbo language, also 10 films are from Yoruba language genre. Hindi movies licensed by the board are three, and Ijaw with two.

Notably, no Hausa-language film was classified for the months of July.

Production houses with notable entries included Global Update Movies with Baby Surrogate and Drown in Tears (Rated 18), KamDAZ Art Academy with Nwa Mmiri and Heckless Fly (rated 18 ), and FilmOne, which distributed Freakier Friday (PG) and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan (rated 12).

The Censor’s Board Executive Director, Hussein said the Board is committed to ensuring films are classified in line with Nigeria’s cultural values while guiding viewers appropriately.

“The NFVCB will continue to support responsible storytelling and ensure audiences, especially younger viewers, are properly guided through classifications,” he said.

Shuaib Hussein emphasized that its classification system is designed to inform viewers and help the industry maintain creative standards while protecting audiences.
