The life and times of Kanye West are heading to a small screen near you. A multi-part documentary about the career and success of the Chicago-raised artist is expected to debut on Netflix, Billboard reports.

According to their sources, the streaming platform has acquired the project from Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah best known as Coodie & Chike, the film making and producing duo known for directing West’s 2003 debut music videos, “Jesus Walks (Version 3)” and “Through the Wire.” It is reported that the deal closed for an “upwards of $30 million.

In the documentary, home videos and never-before-seen footage shot by the duo over the course of 20-plus years. With their relationship with West “as the backbone of the documentary series,” it is said that the film will touch on the death of West’s mother, Donda, his fashion endeavors, and his presidential campaign in 2020. Although West isn’t creatively tied to the project, a source shared that West has given his blessing. The untitled documentary is said to more than likely premiere in multiple parts later this year.

Aside from shooting music videos, Coodie & Chike have had their hand in directing other documentaries like ESPN Films’ Benji (2012) and Netflix’s A Kid From Coney Island, the 2019 documentary about former NBA player, Stephon Marbury.

The duo’s production company, Creative Control, has also partnered with TIME Studios—TIME’s Emmy and Peabody award-winning television and film division—for the documentary. TIME Studios brought John Lewis: Good Trouble to life in 2020 and was behind the Aretha Franklin concert film Amazing Grace in 2018.
