In a bid to secure proper compensation and royalties for late singer, Ilerioluwa Promise Aloba, professionally known as Mohbad, the House of Representatives has summoned his former boss and founder of Marlian Records, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley.
It also invited the late singer’s manager, Jiggy Adeoye, to an interactive session scheduled for Tuesday October 31, 2023.
The House Committee on Justice, Youth and Legislative Compliance extended invitation following a motion moved by lawmaker Babajimi Johnson.
While expressing concern about the contracts that entertainers are made to sign, Benson had called for a review of relevant laws, including copyright, guiding the entertainment industry.
The House, in a letter signed by the committee’s clerk, requested that both Naira Marley and Adeoye appear before it to guide the committee on further legislative action.
Mohbad, who was formerly signed to Marlian Records, died on September 12, 2023 under questionable circumstances.
