Actress and movie producer, Mercy Johnson-Okojie has released the trailer of her first feature film, ‘Legend of Inikpi’.

According to a statement issued by the actress in Lokoja, the movie will hit the cinemas in Nigeria and Ghana from January 24.

‘Legend of Inikpi’ follows the story of venerated Igala princess ‘Inikpi Oma Ufedo Baba’ who chooses to give her life for the freedom of her homeland.

Directed by Frank Rajah, the movie is set in the ancient Kingdoms of Igala and Bini and tells the true story of two great kingdoms on the verge of war.

“I believe I’ve been called to tell Nigerian stories. From the feedback we have so far, people are ready to know more about our culture and our past. It’s an honour to be the vessel to tell these stories,” said the former SSA to the Kogi State Governor on Entertainment, Arts and Culture.

She revealed that majority of the movie acts were sourced from the summit she organised on entertainment, arts and culture followed by a talent hunt across the state, when she was adviser to the governor.

The film features a stellar cast of Nollywood stars including Mercy Johnson Okojie, Sam Dede, Odunlade Adekola, Saidi Balogun, Paul Obazele, and others.
